Our training for YWCS Counsellors

Our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme is one of the important ways that YWCS aims to give back to its wonderful team of volunteer counsellors. Training can be expensive for a counsellor and by offering a range of high-quality opportunities, we aim to support the growth of our team, and make sure that our clients receive the best help available. We thought you’d like to see the range of courses coming up for the team in the coming months:

  • Menopause Awareness with Stef Bricklebank - Stef is a menopause expert and currently works with us at YWCS on our Ways to Wellbeing menopause project. She will be delivering CPD aimed at empowering counsellors to support clients with mental health needs relating to menopause.

  • Autism Training - More clients are presenting with or have concerns about Autism Spectrum Disorders. It’s important that our counsellors are confident to support clients with these needs, so we are offering specialist training with one of our expert consultants.

  • Management of Mental Health Crises - Training counsellors on how to respond when a client is in crisis. Additionally, to understand the processes completed by statutory services once a client has been referred to them, so they can then explain this to future clients and manage their expectations.

  • Dynamics of Attachment in Adult Life with Dr Una McCluskey - Helping counsellors to highlight to clients how their relationships as adults may be influenced by their relationship with their primary caregiver during childhood.
